The origin of Alcanar could be placed on the Iberian era, as evidenced by the archaeological remains of the Iberian Moleta Remedy.
This town gets its name from the shape of the elevation carracter铆stica (mole) where, and its proximity to the shrine of Our Lady of Remedies.
